Stick Together is about more than sport—it’s about creating opportunities for every child to feel welcome, supported, and inspired through field hockey. By working alongside local communities, we help youth from all backgrounds discover the joy of play, the value of teamwork, and the confidence to grow both on and off the field. With the support of like-minded organizations, we’re building a national movement rooted in inclusion, belonging, and a lifelong love of sport.
To create inclusive, locally driven field hockey programs that empower underserved youth across Canada by fostering belonging, physical literacy, and lifelong engagement through sport.
We envision a Canada where every child, in every community, can discover field hockey as a way to connect, grow, and belong. Rooted in local leadership and guided by community voices, Stick Together brings people together through sport—building a national movement where youth from all backgrounds feel seen, supported, and inspired to play.
Thriving communities are built on strong personal relationships, active lifestyles, and a shared sense of purpose. When people come together through recreation and wellness, they create bonds that extend beyond the playing field. Fostering environments where youth feel supported, engaged, and empowered leads to a strong sense of belonging.
Stick Together is built upon active participation from all members of the community, whether through volunteering, leadership, or collaboration. By involving people in the planning and delivery of programs, we build a sense of ownership and pride. This engagement helps create inclusive spaces that reflect the diverse needs and strengths of the community.
Promoting physical activity is central to our mission of holistic well-being. We offer accessible, enjoyable opportunities for youth of all abilities to stay active. An active lifestyle supports not only physical health, but also mental clarity, emotional resilience, and social connection.
When youth are active, engaged, and supported, they become powerful agents of change in their communities. Through recreation and mentorship, we help youth build strong foundations for lifelong healthy and meaningful relationships.
True inclusion means more than just opening the door—it means actively inviting, supporting, and empowering every individual to thrive. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is woven into every aspect of our programs, from planning to partnerships. By addressing systemic inequities and celebrating all identities, we strive to build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Stick Together unconditionally supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, particularly those related to sport and education. We aim to create respectful, culturally safe spaces that honour Indigenous knowledge, voices, and leadership.
We prioritize access and opportunity for individuals and communities who have historically been excluded or underserved. This includes racialized groups, newcomers, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and others facing systemic barriers.
We are committed to eliminating the financial, physical, cultural, and social barriers that prevent people from engaging in sport and recreation. Stick Together offers free programs, accessible facilities, inclusive policies, and supportive environments.
Participating in recreational activities helps individuals develop self-esteem, resilience, and leadership skills. On the field, they learn to set goals, overcome challenges, and celebrate progress. Off the field, these experiences translate into greater confidence in school, work, and everyday life.
Active participation builds social bonds, reduces isolation, and strengthens community ties. Engagement in group recreation also fosters a sense of ownership and pride in one’s personal and collective achievements.
The basics of movement—such as balance, coordination, agility, and spatial awareness— lay the foundation for lifelong physical literacy.
